Baner police took action against Signature Bar and Restaurant in Balewadi Phata for violating the dry day rules applicable on May 1 on the occasion of Maharashtra Day. The owner and manager of the bar were arrested after it was found that they were serving alcohol to customers despite the ban, and were later granted bail.
A search is on for a third suspect in this case, and a case has been registered under Section 223 of the Mumbai Police Act and BNS. During the investigation, about 20-22 customers were found drinking alcohol. Earlier, action was taken against another bar in this area for similar reasons. The police have taken a strict stand on such violations.
