Former Pune Education Deputy Director and Wife Face Corruption Charges for Excessive Wealth

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has found something serious about the former Deputy Director of Education for Pune.

His name is Praveen Vasant Ahire, and he used to be a high-ranking officer in the education department.

The ACB says that he and his wife, Smita Praveen Ahire, have more money and properties than they should.

They found that they own assets worth Rs. 31,78,200.

This is 25.26% more than what they could have earned legally.

The case covers the time from March 2002 to February 2020.

The ACB’s Police Inspector, Rupesh Jadhav, reported this to the Bund Garden Police Station.

A case has now been filed against Praveen and his wife Smita.

Praveen is now an Education Officer in Nandurbar.

Smita lives in Nashik.

They are charged under IPC Section 109 and parts of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, and its 2018 Amendment.

The ACB investigation found that Praveen and Smita bought properties that their income could not explain.

They think that they got these assets through unfair means while Praveen was in public service.

Because of this, a case has been registered against both for having unaccounted wealth.

Police Inspector Praveen Nimbalkar is leading the further investigation.

This is happening under the guidance of ACB’s Police Superintendent Amol Tambe and ACB’s Additional Superintendent of Police Sheetal Janve.
