An Omkar Travels bus (MH 47 Y 7487) coming from Sawantwadi to Mumbai met with an accident at Karnala Ghat on the Mumbai-Goa highway at 11 pm on Sunday. The driver lost control on a sharp bend and the bus overturned. Three passengers died and over 30 were injured in the accident.
Many passengers were trapped in the debris, and local police and emergency services tried to pull them out through the night. Among the injured, a child lost his arm. All the injured have been admitted to MGM Hospital in Panvel, some of them are in critical condition.
