Pune has reported its first cases of Zika virus.
A 46-year-old doctor and his 13-year-old daughter from the Erandwane area of Kothrud have been diagnosed with the virus.
Both have shown symptoms including fever and body aches.
Symptoms of Zika Virus
Zika virus is primarily spread by the Aedes aegypti mosquito.
While the disease is generally mild, about 80% of those infected do not exhibit any symptoms.

The symptoms can include:
- Fever
- Joint pain
- Body aches
- Headache
- Red eyes
- Vomiting
- Malaise (a general feeling of discomfort or illness)
- Body rash
The presence of these symptoms in the infected doctor and his daughter has raised concerns among local health authorities.
